Reports

<aside> 🆕

This is one of our most requested features and biggest releases yet. Reports — weekly status, monthly exec briefs, user story summaries — are a huge part of workflows for the people keeping the world’s largest projects running.

Now, anyone with Tato can create report templates and run them against any project or timeframe quicker than ever — all while tapping the project activity data unique to what you can easily capture with Tato.

The basics

Templates and Reports.

Templates are similar to how you may use templates in documents or presentations. They provide design and structure. With Tato, they can also provide prompts to tap data and answers. When assembling a template, we recommend keeping them flexible enough that they can be reused on any of your projects but they’re so quick and easy to create — don’t be afraid to experiment.

Reports are run against those templates. Open any template, press Run Report and pick any project and/or timeline to run it against. Reports can be shared directly with team members or published to be made available to all project team members.

Templates

The easiest way to assemble a template is to chat with Tato to build a template for you. You can ask for paragraphs and tables. Within paragraphs and tables, you can get creative with number or ordered lists, emojis, and other formatting.

Tato’s Chat knows the tools it has to assemble a template, so it’s a great way to experiment. You can also add many elements directly using the insert menu at the top:

Try adding a Title Card to your report — it can include a logo and is a great way to brand the report while sharing important details like the project and date range the report was run against.

Get creative with the template using chat or directly editing any elements and prompts. Here’s what a monthly exec summary can look like:

This Template and others are preloaded on all Tato instances. If you’d like access to them, please contact Tato’s team and they will share with you.

Once you’ve assembled a Template, try running it. The best way to iterate on your template is to run a report, see the results, and iterate on the template until you love the results. Press Run report at the top of you template and type in “run for <project name> for <time period>”. It does not have to be exact — you can say something like “run for Acme last week” even if the project name is “ACME construction”. You can also pick the project and timeline directly.
